M1 qemu5/18/2023 … where its installer is available inside the Hard Disk Manager app bundle, at Contents/Resources/vdmounter.zip: copy the zip to another folder, double-click it and install the vdmounter.pkg (inside the vdmounter folder) and then open the Windows 7 VM’s VMDK (the VM should be shut down, in order to do this, which could be a problem if it is suspended: but maybe it is sufficient to remove the saved state files from inside the VM bundle): hopefully, the VMDK Mounter should work through Rosetta 2 on M1 Macs. At least for the time being, VMware Fusion or Parallels Desktop won’t support emulation of Intel OSes on M1 Macs: so, if you have a Windows 7 VM, your only option on an M1 is to extract data from it which can be done, for example, by mounting its virtual disk (VMDK) with Paragon VMDK Mounter, available as part of this download:
